Obesity
is a serious, chronic disease that can have a lot of negative effects on many
systems in our body. People who are overweight have a greater risk of having
diabetes, heart disease or cancers. Obesity is difficult to treat because most of
the people lose weight within years. Even though some of the people try to
treat themselves through their daily diet, but it is a lifelong ‘project’ to
achieve their results. The main causes of obesity are due to overeating,
genetics and unhealthy lifestyle/ besides that, the effects of obesity are
health problem and inconvenient lifestyle.
All
we know that one of the main cause of obesity is overeating. Overeating leads
to weight gain. Overeating of a diet that is high in fat and carbohydrates are
the reasons that cause obesity. These foods are high in fat or sugar content. They
have high energy density that have a lot of calories value in a small amount of
food. When people often consume these kind of food, people intake these food
during in an inappropriate time with large amount, they will get obese easily. The
fats and carbohydrates could not be digested in a certain time, the nutrients
from the food could not be absorbed by our body.
Besides
that, genetics problem is also one of the main causes of having obesity. People
will more likely to develop obesity if their parents are obese. Genetics will affect
the hormone regulation in our body. The hormone released is used for metabolism
of our body. If the body cannot produce enough hormone that regulate the brain
to give signal to control eating, the obesity occurs. The hormone released and
genetics problem stand an important role in keeping a healthy body. So they
will cause obesity if they are not controlled.
On the
other hand, the effect of obesity is health problems. The additional fat
tissues that accumulate in our body will increase the workload of our internal
organ. For example, the heart’s workload increases because it must pump more
blood through the blood vessels. The high content of fats will increase the
pressure on the artery wall and blood vessels, this will cause high blood
pressure. Obesity also causes resistance to insulin that regulates the blood
sugar. When the obesity causes insulin resistance, it has a greater risk on
diabetes.
Moreover,
obesity brings inconvenient lifestyle on a person who suffers from obesity. People
who are overweight or obese frequently will suffer disadvantages such as face
difficulties in movement. They are often being blamed for their condition or
easily being bullied. They also may be lazy or weak-willed result on them. It was
just because of their body size or look, they may be repelled by others and
feel depressed. People who suffer from obesity have low confident when they
come against their problem faced. They will find it difficult to express their
feelings to others.
In a
nutshell, obesity has brought a lot negative effects in our life. To sum up,
obese people should be concern with their health condition and lead a healthier
lifestyle to avoid obesity. To lower down the risk of obesity, a balanced diet
should be taken and regular exercise also should be done so that we can
strengthen our body to face more challenges in our life.
